Last night, we were proud to attend the launch party for 878 AD: Winchester Revealed, a groundbreaking immersive experience that brings the rich history of Anglo-Saxon Winchester to life. The event was held a the 878AD venue, at the Brooks Shopping Centre in Winchester.
In attendance were all our esteemed partners, including Ubisoft and Hampshire Cultural Trust, who collaborated with us on this world-first project. The atmosphere was electric, with members of the press, local dignitaries, and history enthusiasts all coming together to celebrate this unique blend of history and technology. To add to the authenticity, we even had people dressed as Vikings roaming the venue, bringing the spirit of the 9th century to the modern day.
The launch was a perfect reflection of the hard work and creativity that went into making 878 AD a reality. Guests were treated to live performances, a sneak peek at the augmented reality app we developed, and a first-hand experience of how the assets from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla were used to recreate the city’s ancient past. The event highlighted the significance of this collaboration, not just for us at Sugar Creative, but for the broader cultural and gaming communities as well.
We are incredibly proud to have been part of this pioneering project, and last night’s launch was a fitting celebration of what we’ve achieved together. As we move forward, we’re excited to see how 878 AD will continue to captivate visitors and bring history to life in new and innovative ways.
