Sugar At AWE 2020

The past 18 months has been an incredible period for Sugar Creative. It’s not only been a period of continued growth, with our team growing to nearly 20 talented creatives and developers between our locations in Cardiff and Bristol, but it's also been a period of immense productivity and success across the board with some amazingly innovative work being produced and delivered by our hugely talented development team.

This year's AWE conference is going to be a very special event. Not only is it the first AWE to be completely held online due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, but specifically for Sugar Creative this year's event has Sugar featured in not only Unity’s keynote presentation, but we’ll also be delivering a developer talk and Q&A immediately following the keynote.

Behind closed doors, we’ve been working with Unity on an incredible piece of technology. A new AR toolkit they’ve called MARS (Mixed and Augmented Reality Studio).

MARS has revolutionised the way Sugar Creative has been able to deliver AR solutions for our clients, including Dr. Seuss and through our collaborative venture Fictioneers (fictioneers.co.uk) for our partners Aardman Animation.

Our recent mobile app, Dr. Seuss’ ABC - An Amazing AR Alphabet! used MARS to drive production and will soon be updated (and resultantly be one of the first commercially available apps) to include interactive features that only this incredible toolkit could have provided us.

As part of the Unity event on May 27th characters from both The Big Fix Up & Sugar’s Dr. Seuss’ ABC will be utilised in a demo revealing the amazing MARS toolkit to the world. We will also, as part of Fictioneers, be revealing the latest trailer and demo footage of the upcoming immersive experience Wallace & Gromit - The Big Fix Up.

This will then be followed by a Sugar Creativite Developer Talk where our Studio Director, Will Humphrey, will talk in more detail about how we are using MARS in our production pipeline and how it has been utilised in Dr. Seuss’ ABC, Wallace & Gromit - The Big Fix Up, and other projects we’ve been busy working on over the past 12 months.
